Capadocia - the land of fairy chimneys and underground worlds!

Hard to believe this is all history and nature - not tampered with or enhanced - just charged for. Lazy Turkish!

See any ghosts Mum? I tried.

The cave city of Capadocia! SO worth my changing flights to stay on! This was meant to be my hot air ballooning experience but that damed wind was co operating!

These caves were filled with caarved out churches, heaps from 11th and 13th century. so dark inside that the frescoes were immaculately conserved - apart from the parts that were intentionally destroyed by the noncatholics- i figure they got what was coming to them after the defacing i saw of the gods in Egypt temples!

The turkish night out was most fun ive had in ages! non stop crazy pouring alcohol and food along with cute dancers and hilarious audience participation. Hakan is lucky i am not posting his efforts for all to see!

There were cats and dogs everywhere! All over turkey! Worse than Paris i tell you! but these were by far the cutest of the lot!

Pamukale and Ephesus

Ephesus was amazing and Hakan - the tour guide- even made all the poppies come out for us since we were so disappointed and confused at the lack of them in Galipoli

This site was crazy big! with so many ruins that they didnt even appreciate the empty tombs sitting high on the hills, that i may or may not have supposed to have stumbled across? there were alot of paths starting however they ended just as quickly, leaving me somwhat lost and puffed by the time i found my way back to the group. THis was the point of Kate leaving me : ( back to coping alone.

Turkey - Crazy fun Istanbul

This city was very cool - especially the second time round as it took a bit of getting used to. Alot of harassing and 'pretty lady, beautiful eyes, kind of carry on but i was suitably prepared in Egypt for that kind of carry on!
Filled with mosques and the bright colours of the stalls and the grand Bazaar was huge. the old spice markets were more filled with the locals and we were quite the token tourists in amongst the locals buying their fresh goods. Was such a good feeling to lose the group and tour guide and mix with the grossness yet coolness of their culture.

The calcium terraces - Pamukale

Amazing built up calcium deposits that have transformed a whole hillside into a crazy site. Just like rotorua would have been but not so pink.In and around the terraces were amazing ruins of more theatres and chuhrches and temples of the gods. I may add these photos later if i find the patience somewhere in me!

The acropolis of Pergamum

Had to show even more photos of this amazing place! Was just unbelievable! For more photos make sure you check out Kates blog - we shared the photo load!
The CD is having serious delays and i really am not so not hung over that i can actually deal with this waiting right now!

Pamukale and The Acropylis of Pergamum

Jo on the the mens toilets ... where they sat and socialised, as you do

Only a portion of the 360 degree view from the Acropylis
The main road in the citadel which once would have been busy with Roman people.

We had awesome sunsets where ecver we went and stayed in some really flash hotels that we werent quite expecting : ) was nice bonus after long days in the bus

Standing on the stairs of a massive open air theatre in the Acropolys that overlooks way more than just the stage below!

The main part of the acropylis with detailed columns and stones.

Pamukale and a few things they had to sell

Absolutely amazing, such well preserved and maintained - a whole city within the protective fortress walls! The baths, toilets, theatre, roads, courtyards, shops and statues all still plain to see as if stepping back in time. The whole place was so huge and high it made you feel really insignificant.

There were carpets and leather goods and pottery galore but ofsourse the highest quality were from the factories where they took us - fed us with apple tea, wine or raki and put on a hillarious show. made it very enticing but i was good girl resisting... others........ where do they get that kind of money? I thought i was on a tour full of teachers but they obviously have secret jobs on the side!
